So you are going to Disney World for the first time. Where do I start?Probably the first thing you want to look at is a map or “lay of the land” as they say. Disney World is HUGE and you must keep this in mind when you visit. It can take you 20 minutes via the bus system to get from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Magic Kingdom. Keep this in mind when you are planning on attending any of the events that are located in each of the parks. You wouldn’t want to get to plan on seeing one of the many parades, for instance, and find out that it took you 20 minutes to wait for the bus, 20 minutes on the bus ride and another 15-20 minute walk just to get through the turnstiles and into the actual park. You may have missed the event or parade or whatever it is that you had planned on attending.

Did you know that there are Hidden Mickey’s (HM’s) all over Disney World? This is a fun game that you can play with your kids while wandering around the parks. I was surprised to find so many that are right there in front of you while walking around. Tell your kids that whoever finds the most HM’s, they get an extra special prize! Here is a sampling of what you can “discover” while wandering around the parks:
In the Magic Kingdom
In the Haunted Mansion banquet scene, check out the arrangement of the plate and adjoining saucers on the table.
In the Africa scene of It’s a Small World, note the purple flowers on a vine on the elephant’s left side.
While riding Splash Mountain, look for Mickey lying on his back in the pink clouds to the right of the Zip-A-Dee Lady paddle-wheeler.

A Disney vacation is a wonderful experience for the whole family. However, there are several little ways to make the absolute most of your time there, and I will share them with you here now.1) Know the best times to go. Peak times are ridiculously busy and twice as expensive. If you can aim to go during off season or at the very least moderately busy times, not only will you save money, but you will save time and you will get to do more over all.
2) Know the best places to stay. Research lodgings and book ahead of time. Find something that is within your budget, and preferably close to the parks. If you can stay on Disney property that is even better because then you can utilize Disney’s free public transport system to get back and forth to the parks rather than shelling out money for cabs or rental cars.

I am so happy you have found my site! DisneyWorldopolis is going to allow you to know anything and everything about Disney World.
I can not tell you how many times my family or myself (individually) have been to Disney World (let’s just say that I can remember and visited when it was only the Magic Kingdom that had been completed!). When we make reservations on the phone nowadays, one of the first questions they ask you is, “How many times have you been to Disney World?” I have to stop and giggle for a moment and then proceed to tell them, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you!”

There is so much to do and so much to know when you go to the Magical place they call Disney World. On a recent trip to the Resort area, my husband and I (no kids this time thank you very much!) were able to take full advantage of the transportation system and see things I didn’t even know existed (yes, hard to believe after having been there so many times!). The parks are only part of the whole magical experience. There are so many more magical experiences awaiting you around every corner.
While there, my husband and I joined the Disney Vacation Club (DVC)! This is going to be such an exciting part of our Disney World experience. We are so thrilled about the possibilities and opportunities that the DVC has afforded us now that we are members. I will be sharing those experiences as well.
I hope that since you have found this site, you are a Disney World enthusiast just as we are. Come along for the “ride” and don’t forget why you are here… M I C K E Y…M O U S E….why? Because we love you!Tags: Disney Vacation Club, Disney World
